Manor Build is one of the most trusted prefab home builders in Taranaki region specialising in affordable new home designs to suit all budgets and requirements. We aim to build affordable homes that exceed the industry standard using quality products that stand the test of time.
Here's why you should choose Manor Build for your transportable home in Taranaki:
Taranaki’s stunning landscape, shaped by Mt Taranaki, also influences how and where homes are built. The region is mostly covered in volcanic soils, which are usually strong and stable — ideal for supporting transportable homes. Around New Plymouth, for example, firm volcanic ash and rock provide excellent ground for building.
However, like many regions, there are some areas where the ground can be softer, such as old swamp land, riverbanks, or coastal plains. On hillside sites, the volcanic ash can become slippery after heavy rain, making slope stability an important consideration.
That’s where our experience comes in. We use practical foundation solutions, most often timber or engineered pile foundations, which allow us to reach firm ground even if the topsoil isn’t as stable. This approach is cost-effective, reliable, and well-suited to Taranaki’s varied conditions.
A major factor in Taranaki is the frequent strong winds. Many sites are rated very high or extra high wind zones, meaning homes need extra bracing, durable materials, and reinforced fixings. We build every Manor Build home to the highest wind zone standard (extra high) as part of our engineered system, unless the specific conditions require special engineering. This guarantees your home is protected and built to last, even in the strongest Taranaki winds.
Whether you’re planning to build in New Plymouth, Stratford, or South Taranaki, you can trust that Manor Build understands the local conditions and will ensure your home is designed for strength and stability.
Haast House Design (106 sqm, 3 bedrooms)
This site was cut of the corner of a much larger block and only had a small building platform, but had amazing views. The client wanted a beautiful classic country design that had great street appeal. They also wanted it to be delivered quickly without stress.
Custom House Design (106 sqm, 3 bedrooms)
The Taranaki region faced a pressing need for more warm, dry, and safe housing due to a growing list on the housing register. The challenge was to quickly provide affordable social housing that met the high standards of Kainga Ora's Fully Universal Design and Landscape design guides.
