Project Overview: Caring for an aged parent
Living in a large classic home in Masterton, this client wanted to create a granny flat on their property to care for an ageing parent who could no longer live independently. They needed a transportable home that matched the existing house style, could be installed quickly, and required minimal disruption to the site.

The goal was to design a comfortable, accessible, and attractive transportable house that complemented the family’s main residence. It needed to provide independence for the parent while remaining close for daily care and support.

Design Selections for Personal Preference
To tailor the new two bedroom transportable home to their needs and tastes the client implemented several customisations:
• Colonial bars in the windows and doors.
• Bay windows off both bedrooms styled as per the existing house.
• Tiled bathrooms including level entry walk in showers for mobility.
• Wider doorways throughout for accessibility
• Modified layout to incorporate the entrance to line up to the laundry door on the main house so a covered connection could be built.
• Colour scheme to exactly match the existing home
• Stone benchtops and Thermoformed Drawer fronts bring a quality aesthetic to the kitchen and laundry
